DIY: Painting on Glass

NEW OBSESSION:

CHALKBOARD PAINT! …. (coming soon 2 more DIY projects with this stuff :) )

So I have very limited space in my kitchen cabinets and I wanted to have some of my dishes and things displayed on these invisible shelves from Menards.

I had 4 glass jars that I kept some of my baking stuff in. So I went out and got a few more jars in different styles and sizes.

Then I went to the local hardware store and got some Black Chalkboard Paint.

I taped off the glass jars with some painting tape.

I knew that if I tried to make perfect squares they would some how get screwed up. So I tore the edges to make them uneven.

Then my sister and I painted one coat on the glass.

After the first coat I took off the tape and kind of cleaned up the edges with my fingernails.

Then I did 2 more coats. (I waited about 20 minutes in between each one).

Let them dry for a few hours before you write on them with chalk.

Here are the finished products.

Here they are on the shelves in the kitchen! I still need to paint the wall a pale blue….then it will all look a lot better.

Some close-ups.
