It’s a Hawkeye State
A few weekends ago we did one of our favorite fall activities: IOWA HAWKEYE FOOTBALL!
We started off Friday night at a dinner for the new Carver Hawkeye Arena addition. My husband’s grandparents were the first family to kick off the fundraising for the addition back in 2008. They donated to the new pavilion which now houses the Iowa Hawkeye Basketball/Volleyball team’s practice courts, sports administration offices, the wrestling complex expansion, and a strength training and conditioning facility. The University in turn named the pavilion the Dale and Marilyn Howard Family Pavilion.
It has been a tough year for Marilyn with some health issues so it was great to get most of the family together to celebrate her AMAZING recovery and our family’s dedication to the University of Iowa. We were also able to tour the new facility and see the finished building that will add so much to the campus.
Here are some pictures of the family (a few missing as well as all the great grandkids)…
Here are some pictures of the new addition….
On Saturday we went to the Hawkeye Football game and watched them WIN (of course).
Kenley’s first Hawkeye game was when she was 7 days old! And I think she went to almost every single game that year (2007).
This was Cohen’s first Hawkeye game because he was born during the middle of the season last year and I just couldn’t imagine taking him and a 3 year old and having a fun time. But now that he is one spending our Saturdays at Hawkeye Tailgates works out pretty well.
(The many faces of Cohen…)
For those of you that don’t know our last name is Beer. ![]()
There are sure to be more games attended while the kids are little. They had a great time and were very good. (Mommy also got to do some shopping at the outlet mall so that always is a good thing!).
We are a proud Hawkeye Family!
