I took the
Pinterest Plunge
the other day.
As foreshadowed I am OBSESSED! So many good ideas for our house and crafts and educational activities for the kids. Lovin’ it.

Last night, after the family went to bed, I made Kenley and ADVENT CALENDAR that I had seen on Pinterest.
Kenley has an awesome Advent Calendar that her Grandma Diane made her but it is up in our attic (which is really hard to get to) but I have no idea what Christmas Box it is in. Since I had all these supplies lying around the house I thought this would be a fun craft for me and something I knew Kenley would thoroughly enjoy.
DIY Advent Calendar
Supplies
Mini Cupcake Tin
Leftover Scrapbook Paper
Leftover Scrapbooking ”Bling”
Glue Dots (or use tape)
Number Stickers
Pen/Marker
Pair of Scissors
Extra change lying around the house
Bite-Size Christmas Candy
1 12′ piece of ribbon
1 Command Adhesive/Removable Hook
Directions
It was a lot of fun to make and I whipped this baby out in about an hour!
I started by gathering up all my supplies. I don’t use my mini cupcake pan very much so it is great to get another use out of it. I had only 2 pages of leftover Christmas paper but I had a ton of scraps that matched the color scheme of that paper. I also had a lot of leftover glitter, rhinestones, ribbon, flowers, etc.
I started by cutting a “test square” to see what size the paper that would cover each hole needed to be. Once I figured out the right size I cut up different pieces of paper and arranged them on top of each of the 24 holes.
I had some leftover number stickers so I tried to use those where I could. Other places I just used a marker (#9 looks a little wonky
). Then I just went to work “bedazzling” each square. I made sure they were all different.
After that was done I filled each hole with candy or money (and on some days Kenley will get candy AND money, she’s gonna freak!).
I placed glue dots (you can get those at a scrapbook store) on every corner of each square and attached to the cupcake pan.
My cupcake pan had a hole at the top so I strung some green ribbon through that. Then I found a Command Adhesive/Removable hook and hung that on the wall in the hallway. There you have it. Easy, Peasy thanks to Pinterest!
Now every morning (starting tomorrow) Kenley will get out of bed and see the calendar and get a little treat. She loves this kind of stuff (and her mommy gets a kick out of it too
)
