Sneak Peek: Square Foot Gardening
I’ve got a LOT of reading to do over the next 3 weeks………….
Got 2 Square Foot Garden boxes and 2 Tomato Plant boxes all ready! (Thanks grandpa for the help)
Here is kind of my tentative plan for the garden. After reading the whole book I will probably change some things……
Box 1:
Asparagus, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Garlic, Green Beans, Green Pepper, Green Onion, Cucumber, Cauliflower, Yellow Onion, Broccoli, Lettuce, Parsley, Peas, Potatoes, Red Pepper
Box 2:
Asparagus, Carrots, Zucchini, Garlic, Green Beans, Green Pepper, Spinach, Cucumber, Cauliflower, Red Onion, Broccoli, Lettuce, Parsley, Cilantro, Potatoes, Red Pepper
The tomatoes will get their own boxes. I will most likely do Roma Tomatoes (my fave).
For the square foot gardening they have a Compost Formula which is:
1/3 Blended Compost mix
1/3 Peat Moss
1/3 Vermiculite
You can purchase all of it from a store but for NEXT YEAR I will be using my own “compost” for the 1/3 Blended Compost mix part. So THIS YEAR I have to make my own in a compost bin.
